MyBhutan is a series of social enterprises designed to establish a global platform to develop local working communities and aid the philanthropic activities of local nonprofit organizations in Bhutan.
MyBhutan’s first social enterprise is an industry-wide tourism platform that appliessmart technology to (a) support public and private sector administrative, marketing and customer support services and (b) make booking a trip to Bhutan easy, personalized, and cost-effective for customers. The enterprise aids the Tarayana Foundation, a Bhutanese nonprofit founded by Her Majesty Queen Mother AshiDorjiWangmoWangchuck to protect the vulnerable communities of Bhutan.
Matthew DeSantis is the founder of MyBhutan. Having had a 20-year personal and professional relationship with Bhutan, he is honored to work with the country to support its continued development. He isone of the longest residing foreigners in the Royal Kingdom and a business strategist and IT specialist by trade, most notably with the Royal Government of Bhutan and Accenture. He also serves as the U.S. State Department’s Warden of Bhutan and a member of the Explorers Club.
MyBhutan’shonorary patron founder, His Royal Highness Prince JigyelUgyenWangchuck, is the Heir Presumptive to the throne of Bhutan.
The world becomes smaller as technology becomes smarter and – without the support of advanced systems –developing countries confront severe handicaps in their ability to compete in global markets.
Our solution allowsthe industry to have more visibility andperform more efficiently; further strengtheningthe high impact model that the Royal Government of Bhutan promotes – all while preserving its originality.
The Last Shangri-La is one of the most enchantingly luxurious yet culturally intact destinations in the world. For the love of Bhutanese people and place, we are inspired to preserve its natural beauty while simultaneously sharing its uniqueness to the world.
Large-scale technologies that enterexisting industries always meet resistance to change – especially in smaller markets that provide for a large portion of a nation’s GDP, like tourism in Bhutan. However, persistence and opportunity are the key elements to acceptance. We’ve consistently demonstrated that our product has been designed with the best interest in nurturing industry growth; in addition to building a solution that optimizes efficiency, we focus on optimizing opportunity by making industry players key beneficiaries.
When you book a trip through our platform, (a) you spend less money, (b) Bhutan receives more money and (c) a portion of the proceeds aid vulnerable villages in Bhutan. From end-to-end, each participant of our model benefits.
MyBhutan will not only make each tourist’s experience more wholesome, we will bring benefit to Bhutanese industry and community.
Bhutan’s policies written in their constitution for sustainable development have the potential to become constructive models for the globalized world. We plan to further stimulate Bhutan’s growth in order to better showcase its pioneering vision to developing economies worldwide.
