Women who are well established in their respective fields, can provide sparks to others. Charmaine strives to bring such stories of wonder women in front of the world through this initiative. Her initiative serves as an inspiration and encouragement to all women in the society!
The Wonder Woman World is a platform to meet all the wonder women around us. Women who are smart, resilient, compassionate, driven, and flaw some! We showcase women from all walks of life and shares their stories with positivity, warmth and integrity. The objective is to have as many women join in the movement to inspire, be inspired and empower the rest of our kind!
Charmaine Timothy is the Founder and Editor of The Wonder Woman World. She is based in Bangalore and has been working with a leading financial services firm (Ernst& Young) over the last 13 years. She has broad minded parents, a cheerleader for a sister, a very supportive husband and two lovely girls (a 5 year old and an 8 month old) who she is raising to be strong, independent and compassionate women. This initiative beautifully brings together her love for writing, reading, meeting new people and spreading positivity!
The Wonder Woman World welcomes ALL women. Via the portal we share experiences, journeys, thoughts, and insights of women who have achieved their dreams or are on well on their way of doing so.Wepromote a culture of “women cheering for women” and reach out to all those who have inspiring stories to share, those needing inspiration and everyone in between.
I am a big believer of there being a right time for everything and even though launching The Wonder Woman World has been on my mind for a long time, it all came together beautifully a month or so ago.
In terms of what inspired me - as I make my way up the corporate ladder I wantedto act as a catalyst in the drive to empower women. I felt I could use my writing skills and my ability to easily connect with people to bring together this network. The response has been so fabulous with the community growing incredibility fast. So many women write in daily to appreciate the initiative, the positive vibes and the personal touch.
I have a very fulfilling job at E&Y, plus two energetic kids (the younger one is just 8 months old), so finding the right balance between looking after the kids, running the house, managing a thriving career and making time for something I am so passionate about was challenging. But I have learned the art of multi-tasking, prioritizing, and using my time efficiently. It meanswaking up before the kids to finish up some writing or working a couple of hours after office to interview my Wonder Women but I enjoy doing it and it does not feel like work at all!The whole initiative is so gratifying and has such a happy vibe to it. Of course, I have a great support system around me – a fabulous husband, parents, sister, great friends and a very large, loving extended family who cheer for me all the way.
I feel what I am doing is the need of the hour. And so many women have given a thumbs up to this initiative (more than 5500 in less than a month of its launch and with 100s joining every day). That is testimony to that fact that women are happy to join such initiatives.
I think what differentiates The Wonder Woman World is the personal touch to each story – I make it point to build a personal connect with each woman and I write with integrity, warmth and positivity. Also, I ask every wonder woman to identify those who inspire them or who in their eyes are wonder women – thereby creating an environment where women promote other women. And that is such a powerful thing to witness.
I feel happy that I am helping connect so many women, widening their network, broadening their perspectives and either helping them see their own achievements in positive light or opening a world of endless possibilities to them by telling stories of other women.
So many readers have written to me wanting to share their experiences, offering to contribute to the drive or just appreciating the content. I am confident that I am making an impact in my own way to empower women and I am sure the trend will continue for generations to come.
So far I have funded the initiative myself – but happy to welcome anyone who wants to sponsor, associate their brand or invest their time in this initiative. I have already started to implement plans to take it to the next level. Exciting times ahead!
The Wonder Woman World is growing fast – and I need to keep up with the growth. I will need to think about building a team of like-minded people to match the growth.
Over the next three years I have hopefully touched the lives of many women either by sharing their stories, inspiring them and giving them the required motivation to pursue their dreams. The smiles that come along the journey is also equally important to me. The end goal of the Wonder Woman World is to build a robust network of women and foster a culture of mentoring, knowledge sharing and women empowering other women.
Hi Charmaine, very happy and proud for you. Wish you all the success in your initiative. Do let me know if I can contribute anything for this initiative. Will be very happy to do. Cheers, Prathi

Great going Charmaine! Not sure if you would remember me, I used to sit along with you on the same floor in BSP office back then - 2005 to 2007 and was part of Rekha Jayakishan's team. I have someone in my mind who I would like to recommend to be on the list of wonder woman's world and will circle back with you after enquiring with her. I am also curious to know if you need any hands in forming a team like your mentioned to the above questions, I would be interested to be part of it and let me know. All the best to you and will get in touch with you soon. Cheers - Priya!
