In Maharashtra during Diwali fort making is a peculiar tradition were children and elders make small forts made from mud. Tradition has come since Maratha period and Maharashtra having more than 350 forts. Many of these forts are associated with the Maratha king, Shivaji Maharaj. Shivneri Fort is a military fortification located near Junnar in Pune district in Maharashtra, India. It is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
